Magical Moisturizer

Whipping up some magical facial moisturizer 😍 You won’t catch me spending big bucks on skincare when I can make the real deal for myself! Why do I call it magical? Because this base of coconut oil, jojoba oil and rosehip seed oil has been incredible for my balancing my oily skin 💥

Many of you have asked for the recipe for this magical moisturizer, so here it is. Please note a couple things:

1. you should choose your base oils based on your skin type. I have posted a graphic about base oils and skin type at the bottom of this post.

2. there are many many essential oils that are great for the skin. I chose these ones based on my needs, but you aren’t limited to these. Except to say — ALWAYS use Frankincense. Always. It’s magic for healthy, youthful skin.

My recipe:

1/4 cup coconut oil
1 tsp jojoba oil
1 tsp rosehip seed oil

Whip these oils together (I just used a fork)

Add these essential oils:

8 drops Frankincense
6 drops Lavender
6 drops Geranium
2 drops Myrrh
2 drops Rose

Mix them all together and put in a jar.

You may find that this moisturizer takes a little longer to absorb into your skin than what you are using now, but that’s a good thing. It gives you time to really massage it in, and massaging your skin increases blood and oxygen flow, which in the long term increases collagen production — which gives you a youthful glow.

Dreamy Lotion Bars

I had made these lotion bars to give as gifts — turned out so cute, right?? — but the dry winter air has left my hands super dry and flaky at the knuckles… so I unwrapped one and used it for myself. Sorry mail carrier or paper boy or whomever this one was earmarked for, it’s mine now.

It’s made with shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and beeswax. Plus some essential oils thrown in there to boost skin health. I went with Lavender and Northern Lights Black Spruce for both their scent and their skin-supporting properties.

Super easy to make, they smell like heaven (hello, cocoa butter!) and leave your skin really soft. Here’s the recipe. Do yourself a favour and skip the double boiler situation on the stove. Just melt everything together in the microwave, and add the essential oils after. Awesome gifts, but be sure to keep a few for yourself!

Growing the future

Everyone has defining moments in their lives. Experiences that carry weight, and that you know have changed you on a fundamental level. I had one of those on Saturday.

I visited one of Young Living’s worldwide farms today, and experienced firsthand the grassroots, authentic process of producing a pure essential oil. I planted a Lavender plant in the field, which will grow and be harvested in the future.

I saw the distillers distilling the oil from the raw material, and some of the scientific equipment they use to test the oil for purity.

I walked the fields and toured the farm, and saw Young Living’s absolute commitment to the natural world, to the plants and the animals.

I saw their unwavering commitment to bring their members nothing but pure essential oil for the health and nourishment of our bodies and minds. And I felt the heart of the leadership and the team who make it happen at every YL farm and distillery worldwide for us.

If I was proud to be working with this company before, I am ALL IN now. This company is my future.

And I’m so excited for everyone on my team who has hitched their wagon to this wild ride. We are growing the future together
